relationships (Psalm 123:1-4) Fix Our Eyes

(Psalm 123:1-4)

1   To You I have raised my eyes,
You who are enthroned in the heavens!
2   Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a female servant to the hand of her mistress,
So our eyes look to the Lord our God,
Until He is gracious to us.

3   Be gracious to us, Lord, be gracious to us,
For we have had much more than enough of contempt.
4   Our soul has had much more than enough
Of the scoffing of those who are at ease,
And with the contempt of the proud.

TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:
The world doesn't owe us any favors, even when we contribute to society.  There might be moments when we feel like we are being appreciated, but this can be very short-lived.  Those who want nothing to do with the Lord, will not want much to do with us.  But, while we should strive to live in peace with those in the world, this shouldn't fool us into trying to please the world, because they are ultimately only looking out for themselves.  That, and they have no understanding or appreciation of God's wisdom, power, holiness, righteousness and unconditional love and grace.
Choosing to serve the Lord is an honor and a blessing.  He knows our pain and struggles, and cares for us.  He sees all that we do, and appreciates our obedience and complete trust and reliance on Him.  Fixing our eyes on God helps us move forward through whatever we might come across here.  Life on earth is fleeting, but we can confidently look forward to our heavenly home that is our eternal hope.
