relationships (Psalm 96:1-13) Demonstrating Our Faith

(Psalm 96:1-13)  Sing to the Lord a new song;

     Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2   Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
     Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
3   Tell of His glory among the nations,
     His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
4   For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
     He is to be feared above all gods.
5   For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
     But the Lord made the heavens.
6   Splendor and majesty are before Him,
     Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

7   Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples,
     Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
8   Ascribe to the Lord the glory of His name;
     Bring an offering and come into His courtyards.
9   Worship the Lord in holy attire;
     Tremble before Him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns;
     Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved;
     He will judge the peoples fairly.”

11 May the heavens be joyful, and may the earth rejoice;
     May the sea roar, and all it contains;
12 May the field be jubilant, and all that is in it.
     Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before the Lord, for He is coming,
     For He is coming to judge the earth.
     He will judge the world in righteousness,
     And the peoples in His faithfulness.

TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:
Let's take a moment to compare God to the gods of this earth.  People create their own gods in their own image, while God created the universe and created us to be in His image.  People determine what empty religious rituals they should adhere to in order to earn some possible merit/s, while God offers us freedom from sin through His free gift of salvation in order to have a personal relationship with Him.  Those who rely on self-made gods gain nothing except partial self-satisfaction which is only temporary.  Those who trust in and rely on God gain everything!
It's very clear, there is absolutely no comparison!  God is worthy of all our praises!  For everything He has done for us, is doing, and will do, He deserves all the credit!  And He asks that we don't neglect the meeting of the saints.  Through this, in our efforts to get out of bed to physically go to church, to worship and serve, and spend time with the Lord, and our fellow believers... we will be blessed, many people will be blessed, and most importantly, the Lord is blessed.
God has given us everything that we have, so He deserves the credit.  And He asks that we tithe (to give ten percent of our income) to the church and the Lord's work.  Through this, in demonstrating our faith in the Lord, we will be blessed, many people will be blessed, and most importantly, the Lord is blessed.
The Lord God is faithful and He never disappoints!  We are guaranteed eternal life!  We have a perfect heavenly Father who loves and cares, and is so very patient!  We have His indwelling Holy Spirit to work in and through us, who will equip us and help us.  And as we draw closer to Jesus, we become more and more like Him.  The Lord deserves all of the credit!
In all of this, because God is holy and cannot have a relationship with sin, He will judge unbelievers based on their sin.  For anyone to approach Him and live, we must be in holy attire, which is only possible when we have accepted Jesus' forgiveness and are then clothed in His righteousness.  And because He is love, and would prefer to judge people based on their good deeds, He desires that all come to know Him.  So, He asks that we share the good news!  Through this, in demonstrating our faith in the Lord, we will be blessed, many people will be blessed, and most importantly, the Lord is blessed.  With humble, thankful hearts, it is all to God's glory!
