(Psalm 99:1-9) The Lord reigns, the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned above the cherubim, the earth quakes!2 The Lord is great in Zion,
And He is exalted above all the peoples.
3 May they praise Your great and awesome name;
Holy is He.
4 The strength of the King loves justice;
You have established order;
You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His footstool;
Holy is He.
6 Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
And Samuel was among those who called on His name;
They called upon the Lord and He answered them.
7 He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
8 Lord our God, You answered them;
You were a forgiving God to them,
And yet an avenger of their evil deeds.
9 Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For the Lord our God is holy.
TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:
People say they don't like rules and laws, but in life, whether these are official, right or not, there are rules and laws everywhere. Even criminals have their own rules and "codes of ethics". Unless a law goes against God's will, God tells us to submit to our leaders and the laws of the country. In fact, most of the laws in our country reflect God's will. These types of laws are generally to keep everyone safe and living alongside others in peace and unity. And, well laid out measures of accountability and consequences will also help protect people and enforce the law. So, why would we not want to obey these types of laws?
Regarding Christianity, it helps to understand that the Lord is a God of organization, law and order. And because the Lord is holy, righteous, fair and just, we can know and trust that what He tells us we should do - will work out for good. God's laws and commandments all help us get to know and understand the Lord better, which builds up and edifies us personally. As well, His laws and commandments help us to live with and among others in peace and unity. God's word contains everything we need to know, for every relationship, area and situation... to apply to churches, families and our personal lives.
When we go to the Lord for His help, He changes us from the inside out, and works in and through us. And because we love Him, we will strive to live in obedience, not because we have to, but because we want to - with His strength and guidance. And when we do stumble and make mistakes, God's grace is there to protect us. We cannot lose our salvation, because He has forgiven us of all sin; although, the Lord will discipline those He loves, because He wants the best for us. It might not feel great in the moment, but I do appreciate everything He does! Even that! So, in our relationship with our awesome Lord and Savior, we will want to worship, exalt and call upon Him!
