relationships (Leviticus 19:1-4) Respect

(Leviticus 19:1-4)  Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:

Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. Every one of you shall reverence his mother and his father, and you shall keep My sabbaths; I am the Lord your God. 4 Do not turn to idols or make for yourselves molten gods; I am the Lord your God.
TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:
In our Christian walk, we are considered holy.  And even though we cannot lose our salvation, it benefits God's kingdom as well as our personal lives to live in God's will... to "be" holy.
The next few commandments kind of seem random, but they all contribute to us having safe, loving and healthy relationships with God and those around us.  When we respect and honor our parents, not only will our relationship with them go better, but we will be a living example to our children as to how they should treat us.  And for so many reasons, having a day of rest per week and consistently attending church is also healthy - spiritually, physically and emotionally.
Not having idols in our lives - which is accomplished by keeping God first, respecting Him and seeking a closer relationship with Him - helps us in absolutely everything.  I never tire of saying this, because it is always a huge reminder to myself... when we all grow closer to the Lord, we will grow closer to each other.  And by allowing God to live in and through us, asking Him to do everything FOR us, things will work out for good!  All to His glory!
