(1 Samuel 16:14-23) Now the Spirit of the Lord left Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord terrified him. 15 Saul’s servants then said to him, “Behold now, an evil spirit from God is terrifying you. 16 May our lord now command your servants who are before you. Have them search for a man who is a skillful musician on the harp; and it shall come about whenever the evil spirit from God is upon you, that he shall play the harp with his hand, and you will become well.” 17 So Saul said to his servants, “Now select for me a man who can play well, and bring him to me.” 18 Then one of the young men responded and said, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who is a skillful musician, a valiant mighty man, a warrior, skillful in speech, and a handsome man; and the Lord is with him.” 19 So Saul sent messengers to Jesse to say, “Send me your son David, who is with the flock.” 20 And Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread and a jug of wine, and he took a young goat, and sent them to Saul by his son David. 21 Then David came to Saul and attended him; and Saul greatly loved him, and he became his armor bearer. 22 So Saul sent word to Jesse, saying, “Let David now be my attendant for he has found favor in my sight.” 23 So it came about whenever the evil spirit from God came to Saul, David would take the harp and play it with his hand; and Saul would feel relieved and become well, and the evil spirit would leave him.
TODAY'S THOUGHTS AND MEDITATION:
Just as an evil spirit can oppress someone, the Holy Spirit can bring peace to someone, even when they are not a believer. So prayer works! Although this is only temporary! Since God never forces anyone to believe in Him or forces anyone to obey His will, His peace will only be eternal if and when someone decides to put their faith in Him. Remember, God looks at our hearts and knows who is His child.
God also knows who will become His child, as well as who will not, but He is still fair and just with everyone. The Lord gave Saul plenty of opportunities to see the value and benefits of choosing to be on His side, but Saul outright rejected God! But just like David's music was able to placate Saul's demon-triggered-fears, while here on earth, unbelievers will still see and enjoy God's goodness to some degree.
I have met many people who dabble in dark things. Look, even when someone says they are into white magic, it is still dark. This is all party of Satan's realm. Interestingly, these are usually the people who tell me that my house and I have "good energy", yet they are also the ones who avoid me because they feel agitated around me. I can only surmise that these people are feeling God's presence in my home and in my life... and this either gives them a sense of peace, or it scares them, depending on the spiritual situation.
It's a thing these days to want to be an "influencer" and here's our chance! Since God Himself does not force Himself onto people, remember that we cannot force God onto people. And since I do not know who is going to become a believer or not, I just need to continue on in my walk with God, taking whatever opportunity He gives me to an influencer, to shine Jesus' light, love and hope to others. As well, I need to remember to pray for every situation. And I need to continue praying for others that they see the value and benefits of choosing to be on the Lord's side!
